Unemployment Help Center
Drew from Chardon asks:
i am in the process of moving because of school and the high gas prices related to it. i have to quit my job, but all the places i have applied for in the area in which im moving to hasnt contacted me for any positions. does "quiting" as opposed to "laid off" make a difference?
Statepay support representative suggests:
Yes, Drew. It is much more difficult to qualify for unemployment insurance if you quit that if you were to get laid off. We would recommend filing as soon as you can to see if you do, in fact, qualify. Regardless, you should spend the majority of your time looking for new employment- please remember, unemployment insurance is just a temporary solution.
