There are no federal benefit extensions available at this time. Extensions of unemployment compensation benefits are federally legislated and funded. They usually occur when the national unemployment rate is high. The last federal extension of benefits in Florida ended in December 2003. Currently the insured unemployment rate in Florida is much lower than what is needed to trigger an extended benefit period.
