We would first recommend that your daughter look for employment as soon as possible- she should use every resource at her disposal (Craigslist.com, CareerBuilder.com, Monster.com, and her local newspaper).

We would then recommend that they discuss potential solutions with their landlord (versus avoiding his / her phonecalls). Unless they can prove to their landlord that things will change quickly, it will be very difficult to convince him / her to continue allowing them to live there.
